This home designed by Stoneking/von Storch Architects is currently under construction in a remote part of Albemarle County, Virginia. The existing structure was completely gutted leaving only the roof and exterior masonry walls. Large openings were made in the remaining walls to take advantage of the mountain views. New steel and glass dormers will allow light in to the space and allow views of the sky. The second floor was carved away to make a loft-bedroom space supported by new steel structure. The new concrete floors extend outdoors to create a variety of outdoor living spaces.
